Isabelle McGee, French interior designer and craftsman, is the founder of Regard, an interior design consultancy and showroom located in San Francisco. We asked Isabelle 12 questions to better understand the specialty of Regard in the Bay Area Interior design industry. A French touch with a European twist for elegant simplicity and a real identity in homes, outdoor spaces and small businesses in the Bay Area.
1. Why did you create Regard?
I have wonderful memories about the time when I worked in Paris, Rome or London for prominent firms, whose clients were leading hotels or extremely worthy clients. I created Regard to get back to this feeling of accomplishing a project, knowing that you make the right choices for your clients.
When I moved to San Francisco, I was surprised to see that many people had a very timid approach for interior design. It is almost as if they had forgotten that homes are more than just a physical sanctuary and office more than a work place.
One of my goals, by creating Regard, is to make them re-discover that their homes and workplace should communicate their lifestyle, should be a statement of who they are and of their goals in life. I want to make people realize that we are all vulnerable to what is around: our environments affect our way of living, so we must nurture them the same way that we nurture ourselves.
